It's Dahlia~! <3 <3 <3
Sure, it's actually Godot who says "cute girls never lie," but I always imagined Dahlia saying it.
This picture is junk, but I spent forever on that damn parasol. D:< Ignore the crap coloring, too. Copics + sketch paper = bitch.
Wow, the parasol was definitely worth the effort, it adds so much depth and compositional value to the work. The butterflies are a great touch too. The sketch paper also left the image with an interesting texture.
Though one thing that jumps out at me, and that you've probably noticed already too, is that her neck is a but giraffe-y. >_>
If you draw your characters by doing the entire head first, then adding the body, try getting the whole body shape in first, then add in details more evenly across the piece.
Also, the background shading worked very well, methinks. You might want to experiment with expand it a bit.
Yeah, shading with a neutral totally helped. :0 If this weren't on sketch paper and all I'd have tried to do a neater job of it... >_>; (ormaybeitsjustbecauseimlazy)
Ugh, ugh, ugh. Body x head proportions are going to kill me. D: Maybe she's the bastard child of Dahlia and a giraffe...? That's totally what I meant to draw. >_>
I have no idea whether this was intelligible or not. But thanks!
though this girl doesn't really look like Dahlia, she has brown, wavy-ish hair tied in a ponytail an she's usually smiling like-ish a shy nice smile ^_^

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
